THE OCCIDENTAL CHORALE
Honoring the beloved author and humanist
Alessandro Manzoni, Verdi’s Requiem expresses the emptiness that follows
the loss of a life, the recognition of sins amidst the call to Judgment,
and the ultimate, unassailable hope for redemption. Operatic in its
dramatic shifts and emotive power, the Requiem achieves a transcendence
that goes beyond the recognition of a particular life, and instead
achieves a recognition of all human life.
