It’s a night of turbulent excitement, as the expressionist Revueltas starts us off with a bold infusion of Mexican folk motifs into a complex, classical structure. Glass’ Concerto continues the revolution, as it charges forward on fourteen timpani in a heroic and audacious display. Berlioz finishes the evening by plunging us straight into the tumult of Shakespeare’s tragic love story.
